The Gullah Wars | Forgotten History

Something that a lot of people don’t seem to know about when I ask them is the Gullah Wars. It’s actually a large part of so called African Americans culture and it doesn’t get discussed much. In the video, it shows how slave rebellions were not a myth and that blacks and native Americans did fight back a white oppressive system from 1739- 1859 and it was called The Gullah Wars.

The Black Seminoles are black Indians associated with the Seminole people in Florida and Oklahoma. They are the descendants of free blacks and of escaped slaves (called maroons) who allied with Seminole groups in Spanish Florida. Historically, the Black Seminoles lived in distinct bands. Some were the [purchased?] slaves of particular Seminole leaders; but they experienced more freedom than in white society, including the right to bear arms.
